Mozambique hosts up to half the world’s known graphite resources and is set to be the world’s largest exporter of graphite concentrates.

In December 2017 and January 2018, Waratah Minerals signed four binding offtake agreements for up to 41,000tpa of graphite concentrate, representing over 80% of Montepuez’s forecast annual production.

In March 2018, the Mozambican Government granted Waratah Minerals a Mining Licence for its Montepuez graphite project and accepted the Company’s EIA for the same project.

During 2020, Waratah Minerals continued to progress government engagement in relation to the Mining Agreement.

The Company was awarded an extension of the Environmental Licence until 21/10/2022.

Waratah Minerals has implemented a range of measures to combat risks associated with COVID-19. The Company has currently reduced its expatriate staff presence on site and has halted all non-essential travel to Mozambique. The Company will continue to monitor the situation and will make changes as required to align with national legislation and support the health and safety of the Company’s staff and local communities.
